Hoarding Marks of Honor

I have a small hording problem that’s recently come to light..

176 Marks of Honor! They were intended for my toons to buy PvP sets for transmog but I was absolutely paralyzed by the decision of who gets what set, so the marks kept mounting up as I refused to spend them. I decided in the end to just farm out the tokens to all 12 girls and let them pick up a new set each.

Death Knight

Demon Hunter

I also picked up a few appearance achievements as well.

I had the hardest time choosing which sets to get for each toon as some have absolutely gorgeous sets. I’ll need to keep doing all the world quests that give marks of honor as there’s still hundreds  of tokens worth of sets and weapons to collect yet.

Zeera the Beloved

Zee finally got her 60 reputations to exalted achievement while running Cata tiimewalking dgns last night. Cata dgns are the best because you can equip a tabard and get extra rep in there for the various cata factions.

60 reps gives the Beloved title which is one of my favourite titles in the game.I’ll be wearing this one for a while I think.  You know what would be a cool, a random title function where you can favourite the ones you like the best and it randomly changes your titles so you see different ones regularly.

I originally started rep hunting when my mage was my main and she went back and got all the previous expansions reputations. Then when I changed to Z, I was doing double the rep grinds, on Z as part of doing dailies and opening factions for gear, and then again on my mage. When I finished the reputation grind for  the Emperor on the Timeless Isle with Z in MoP I realised I didn’t want to do it all over again and decided to make Z my main reputation gatherer.

Next reputation achievement  is get 70 to exalted.  I still have quite a few BC reps to get along with the ones that make up part of the Insane achievement and title, which is my favourite one (I wouldn’t be changing that title for a long while!). That’s a big one on my to-do list so those reps will be the next I go after.

A lot of Noblegarden luck

I haven’t had a great deal of time to spend in wow lately, real life and trying to get my head around a research thesis which I just can’t seem to find inspiration for has kept me out of Azeroth more than I’d like. But a friend texted me today to see if I had collected enough eggs to buy the new Noblegarden pet and as I hadn’t logged in since the event started I decided I’d make a little time and log in tonight.

I’ve never hunted for eggs as a hordie before and even though wowhead suggested that Falconwing Square is the best place to collect eggs in, I was able to get to Razor Hill faster so thought I’d try there. I was pretty lucky in that the place was almost deserted and I could collect eggs in druid flight form (yes I did feel a bit guilty but the convenience outweighed the guilt) so I did a few laps until my free bag spaces were full of eggs and started unwrapping them to get the chocolate currency inside. It was going to take me 100 choccys to get the pet and 500 more for the mount. Seeing it was so deserted and the eggs were piling up really fast I thought I’d see how far I could get into the 600 needed before my patience and time I could justify ran out.

I couldn’t believe my luck though, as I was clicking on the 97th egg to unwrap it, I looted the mount!  So I was able to get the mount, pet and a pretty easter themed outfit (shame it’s not transmogable) in record time, meaning I can go back to struggling to find an original research angle and not miss out on wow events. If ever this was the time I needed wow luck, I got it. Thanks Blizz xx

Stepping into Highmaul – Take 2

Raiding Night Take 1

Our first night in Highmaul was very short-lived. Our team got in and managed to get Kargath down and then the lag fun and games started. Cinder posted about it here. Pretty much it was a write off for a raid night and we all resigned ourselves to not getting much done and instead coming back the next night.

Raiding Night Take 2

The servers were much more stable the 2nd night and things went a lot smoother. Since Kargath had been  an easy run, we decided to try him on heroic. He was a little more difficult but not very and he went down really quickly. It was pretty exciting seeing all the shiny purple loot that dropped.

The Butcher

We decided to give The Butcher a go on heroic but we came to a halt there because he hit berserk with a fairly sizeable chunk of health left, not close enough to keep beating our heads against him so we flicked it back to normal and kept going. Once  on normal this fight was pretty easy, the damage levels were really reduced, I’m not even sure if I got a chance to pop Tranquility. It was quite surprising the damage difference, hopefully with a full raids worth of gear under us, next week will be a heroic kill for him.

I completely forgot about taking photos of him, so Cinder and I decided that we would try to remember to take photos of the next bosses together.

This guy took out half the raid almost first go with his little spikes of badness but second time around we were all much more aware of our feet and he didn’t seem to be too much of a problem. To be honest I spent so much of this fight running around I wasn’t really paying too much attention. If I wasn’t running away from a red gas that was chasing me, I was running away from spikes that were about to pop out of the ground. It did seem to end rather abruptly to me, I’m sure there were still lots of adds up when we got the achievement and the fight ended so I’ll need to pay more attention to the fight next week.

This fight was really fun, we did have a very early wipe because we didn’t realise just how much the Flame thrower guys have to be on top of burning away the creeping moss that covers the ground and the whole raid really quickly was covered in moss with no where to stand. Part of this fight includes healing up two beneficial mushrooms that pop up throughout the fight. The green one, Living Spore, does a raidwide heal to anyone in 20yards of it when it is healed to full.

It was absolutely fantastic when the blue rejuvenating mushroom came out. Healing this to full gives  a really big increase to mana regen and haste; so while it was up I could spam regrowth constantly. The amount of healing that could be put out during this phase actually seemed really strong in comparison to the amount of damage that was going out.

Twin Ogron

In my mind, this was probably the most painful of all the bosses faced; it‘s a really movement intensive fight with lots of raid aoe damage. The twins, Pol and Phemos do different abilities based on their energy and most of the abilities require you to run away from something. There are rocks that fall from the roof in 3 waves; each wave of rocks has an increasing range of aoe damage from where the rocks lands – 3 yards, then 8 yards then raid wide. Phemos casts whirlwind which does damage to anyone around him.

And the most fun was when the twins throw their axes onto the ground which spawns moving lines of fire from them. Almost like a maze. Trying to pick a safe place to stand or to run to was very tricky at times. I’m not really looking forward to that fight on heroic I must admit.

Twin Ogron

We called it after that boss as we reached the end of our raid night so on Sunday we head back in and face the last two bosses; Ko’ragh and Imperator Mar’gok.

I got a couple of pieces of loot in the raid, pretty bracers and new boots. The boots actually popped up with avoidance on them, which is a tertiary stat that helps to reduce a little aoe damage. With my level 3 War Mill I get a seal of tempered fate automatically just from talking to the npc in the mill each week. There are a ton of other options to get the other 2 seals; honor, gold, apexis crystals and I think garrison resources. I went with 500g and 1000 crystals for my other two but I’ll probably find a non gold method in the future though it does make a nice and fast option, if I don’t feel like farming up any mats, I can just buy my seals.

This is actually the first time I’ve been raiding from the start of when a raid tier is released; I started playing in cata so by the time I got to 85 and actually understood what the heck raids actually were, firelands had been out for a few months and at the start of MOP I was in a guild that didn’t want anyone to raid until every member of the old cata team was ready to raid which ended up being quite a few weeks after MV released. I have to say raiding so early is  actually pretty fun. I can’t wait to see the rest of the bosses and to work through the different difficulties.

Draenor Safari and the elusive Shadow Sporebat

The new expansion has bought a ton of new pets with it and I’ve been running around making sure I catch and find as many as possible. Some of the new wild pets are super common but some are a lot trickier to find.

I was left last night with only one pet left to catch, the Shadow Sporebat. According to Wowhead it spawns around Khadager’s tower in Talador. When I got there last night, I couldn’t see a single battle pet icon on my map. I wandered up and down the valley for a bit and then realised I could venture all the way out onto the open sea (Azure Water Strider mount is amazing for this) and over to Taanaan Jungle. After screenshotting some pretty shots and teasing my guildies about there being tons of daily quests here and that I could see Grommosh (I finally let them know I was teasing) I headed back.

Taanaan Jungle

Still no spawns..I asked my battle friends if they had any luck finding one of these pets and checked out wowhead again. Wowhead comments indicated it could possibly be after midnight server time while  Dragon and Luxy both mentioned they thought it was a very early morning spawn. I stayed online until after 12 but couldn’t see any pets spawning so set my alarm for super early the next day so I could be up and online before sunrise. I found out from watching blizzcon that each server’s sunrise, sunset and night are timed to coincide with the day/night cycle based on server local time)

At 5.45am I jumped on to see if there was anything but after running up and down the valley I still couldn’t see any paw icons on my map.  I ran back up the top to the tower and all of a sudden, a paw came up on my map! There was a single solitary shadow sporebat in the whole zone.  I captured it and while it’s grey I luckily managed to pick up a flawless flying stone a few days ago. I’ll wait to see if the spawns increase, if not I’ll stone the one I have.

I also got the Royal peacock as a reward for getting all the wild pets in Draenor, which is one really special looking pet.

Final Quest in Pandaria

I’ve been finishing up a lot of Pandaria Achievements and one that has been catching my eye was the Savior of Stoneplow so I decided to go and finish it, and I am so glad I did. It was the perfect quest to bow out of Pandaria on.

To be eligible to have this quest offered to you, you must have completed the Valley of the Four Winds and Krasarang Wilds quest achievements. I found a npc called Emmi at Stormstout Brewery had the quest for me though the forums mentioned there are a few quest givers that you could pick the quest up from.

Once you head on down to Stoneplow you get a cut scene that shows a massive bug breaking through the wall with a smaller bug army with him.

stoneplow 1

And just as everyone in Stoneplow is about to give up hope and wants to flee, tons of notable Pandaran Npcs like Chen Stormstout, the Halfhill Tillers  and Miss Fanny  turn up to save the day with you.

stoneplow 2

You have a few little quests where you run around and destroy some of the bugs, give beer to keep up the spirits of the defenders and joining in with some Shadopan Students to dispatch the bug commanders. For the final quest, Miss Fanny catapults you towards the colossus bug and you are sucked into its belly and must fight your way out.

stoneplow 3

When you finally emerge the Pandaran realise that they are ready to finally stand on their own.

This was a great quest to finish on, seeing all the npcs that have been around throughout my adventures  all in the one place was like a fantastic goodbye party.

Toys r Us

I’ve been so looking forward to the addition of the toy box and set about filling it up with as many toys as I have. Not only is it great to save space in my bags but it gives all my toons a chance to use some of the toys I’ve found and of course gives me another achievement to chase in my attempt to completely fill up the blank spots in my journal.

I love that the toy effects can now stack; it means you can come up with some pretty fun combinations:

Toy box 1 toy box 2

Toy box 3

Though not every combination works so well

My poor Naga shape is a bit confused over just how wings should fit onto it.

Like winning the lottery

I’ve been running all my 90s through the headless horseman dungeons this past week, in fact I actually enabled my 2nd account again so I could have access to 2 more level 90 healers, all to increase my chances of snagging the Headless Horseman’s Reins.

On the 4th run today I couldn’t believe it when I saw the purple Horseman’s reins pop out of the loot pumpkin.

Getting the mount was pure luck. I’m going to be excited about this for a really long time.

Acheivement Spam

I decided in the count down to Warlords I want to try to get through as many Pandaria ach’s as possible. It’s also a  good way to say bye to the zone.

Ach Spam

I’ve been working on a few achievements over on the Isle of Thunder working towards completing all the ach’s for the Storm breaker title. I have to say a huge thanks to McTacky as I needed to kill Feng for the achievement these Mogu Have Gotta Go-Gu and I just couldn’t get an incarnation of Feng to drop. I knew he had been working on the Isle a while ago so sent a whisper asking if he happened to have one left in his bank, which  he did and he happily came over without a moment’s hesitation.

If you’re looking to do the treasures of pandaria ach, I recommend the Lost Treasures addon, it puts an arrow on your screen to the location and spawn points on your maps and makes this achievement so much easier. And on the subject of add ons; Npcscan Overlay, makes finding all the rares for Glorious so much easier by putting the patrol paths of rares on your map. If you don’t have it, definitely go get it.

Achievement hunting is a fun way to fill in time, I love seeing the box pop up when I’ve done something and the more I can get done in Pandaria now, the less there is to do later when there’s new and shiny achievements in Draenor to do.

On Wings of Nether and a surprising quest

One of the achievements I wanted to get through before Warlords goes live was to get exalted with the Netherwing faction so that I could buy up the Netherwing Drakes.Despite me being incredibly slow to actually obtain these mounts, these are definitely one of my favourite models and they come in lovely colours and I’ve been meaning to get around to owning them for ages.

Today I finally finished the dailies down there and hit exalted with them. Before rushing off to buy up all the drakes though, I realised a new quest had come available on one of the daily quest givers.

It was the quest Bow to the Highlord which lead to Lord Illidan Stormrage and had a nice little RP event with it. It started with the Overlord Mor’ghor who was quite impressed with me and decided I should become a Highlord of the Dragonmaw Clan. He even went so far as to call  Illidan down to meet me.

Netherwing 3

Illidan however, wasn’t quite as pleased when he exposed me for the imposter that I was.

netherwing 5

And I had to be  whisked away to safety in Shattrath by the dragon Yarzill, who until right before the quest had been disguised as a Goblin daily quest giver.

netherwing 4

Once back in Shattrath you can talk to all the different Netherwing Drakes, and one will volunteer to come with you on your adventures.  I chose Onyxien, then it was straight back down to Netherwing ledge to buy up the remaining 5 different colour drakes.Netherwing 2

The quest at the end of hitting exalted was fantastic to see, I’m really glad I stopped to see what quest had become available as it was really easy to overlook.

If you’re exalted and you’ve never completed the quest (you can buy the mounts without doing the quest), definitely go down and finish it off. netherwing 6
