My Little Velf

My Void Elf priest hit 110 last night, making her  the 13th toon to 110 so far. EEK!! That’s a lot of levelling this expac.

Levelling was incredibly quick as from level 1 to 73 I was levelling with 4 other people and we had the darkmoon faire buff all the way. Because we had a tank, healer and 2 dps in the group, we just dungeon spammed non-stop.

From 73 to 81, I popped into Kara and holy nova’d my way through a few resets of trash mobs, then it was back to dungeon spamming until 90.  90 to 100 was opening up the garrison in Warlords and picking up treasure and bonus objectives in Gorgond and Spires.

100 to 110 took the longest but only because I was only levelling solely through invasions. Each invasion gave just over a level each time. I could have made 100 to 110 a lot faster if I was questing between invasions but I was happy to let her sit in Dalaran waiting for the invasions to pop up and only doing the priest weapons and  order hall quests.

One thing I was really unimpressed with levelling, was just how hard Cata dungeons are. I levelled exclusively as healer, healing the same tank in every dungeon with pretty much no issues no matter how big the pull until we reached the level where we could queue for Cata dgns. Holy hell they were disgusting to heal. I don’t think I am a terrible healer, I’m pretty familiar with priest and I was in full heirlooms but I could not keep the tank or the group alive even through smallish pulls. Luckily one of the others was on a monk and they swapped to healing  and we two healed our way through Grim Batol and Throne of the Tides for the dgn quests and then we stopped queuing cata dgns and went straight to MOP ones which were a faceroll compared to Cata.

I’d hate to think what it would be like for a new player, with no heirlooms, to go into those dgns. It was truly horrible and made me want to walk away from healer and levelling. There may have been a few tears behind the keyboard as I questioned just how truly shit I was at healing. Thank goodness MOP dgns restored my faith in myself and my priest and dgns became fun again.

My Velf is so damn pretty that I really think I’d like to swap to a class that can play one as a main.  They might be a reskinned Belf, but they’re different enough and the hairstyles, OMG the hairstyles, are so gorgeous that I would love to play one more.

I wish that Belfs would get the really pretty hairstyles. Void Elves really are the prettier sisters of the two. I secretly wish that Velfs were on Horde because with the faction divide that is coming, I think I want to be on the side of the Horde again and I’m tossing up maybe having priest as my main class for BFA.

Faction and Class to main are decisions to be made in the coming weeks.

All 12 Class Halls done, Legion Goal finished!

The one overriding goal I’ve had for this expansion was to get the Feat of Strength for levelling all 12 toons to 110 and finishing their class hall. I’m starting to have a sneaking suspicion that achievements are the main reason I play this game and a Feat of Strength is an achievement on steroids.

I didn’t get this done in the fastest time, but since so much of the early parts of the expansion were pretty much completely focused on the Druid and the grind of AP and Rep, I’m still happy with getting it done in the year.

My absolute favourite campaign, even after seeing them all is still the Death Knight one. I really loved the slightly insane route it took, trying to raise the greatest alliance hero into a death knight by storming into the Paladin order hall and trying to raise Tirion. Still the best scene is getting to strangle Lady Liadrin. I have a dark sense of humor it seems.

Funny enough, the Rogue campaign was the last I completed and took 2nd place in my list of favourite campaigns. It was really spy like, I got sent to Stormwind to spy on the SI:7 and investigate the murder of an agent and ultimately expose a demon masquerading as the head of the SI:7. Part of the real fun of this quest line though was it sent me to the real Stormwind City at the very end, not a phased version. So as a Horde character having to stealth through the city filled with Alliance that added a big thrill and feel of actually being a sneaky spy infiltrating the enemy.

Interesting enough, the Druid one was pretty close to being my least favourite. It just felt quite boring at the time and a lot more talking rather than action. It was the first one I did and it was the one most gated by time and levels so it was really disjointed when I was doing the different parts, so once my 2nd druid hits 110 I’ll try to do her campaign in one go so I can see the story uninterrupted.

Along the way I also found a few classes that I really enjoy playing and didn’t think I would. Warlock is number one, she is really fun to play even if I still suck at dps on one of the most op classes at the moment and… Rogue. One of my least liked classes previously. Even from a healer perspective, I hate healing rogues over any other class, they’re such squishy little things but levelling and finishing the class quest showed me the fun side of the class so I’d like to put a bit more time into my Rogue and see if I actually like her after a bit more time at max level.

Now that I’ve got the biggest part of my Legion To-Do list done, I’m starting to think of what I need to finish to make Legion feel complete for me. So far the list of what else I want to do is:

  1. Class mounts for all to be done. (Mage, Warrior and Rogue left)
  2. Finish all the profession quest lines and get all the professions to 800 (alch, inscript, herb are only ones done so far)
  3. Run each toon through the NH and ToS raid finder as much as possible to get the raid finder transmogs, (normal, heroic and mythic can be done  in later expansions)
  4. Try the Chromie scenario at least once
  5. Go start the Pet Dgns before 7.3 comes out bringing a much larger version of the family familiar achievement.
  6. Fishing legendary is still on the bucket list and I’ve hardly touched it. Must go spend some time on the water.

Random Tuesday Mutterings

Random Tuesday Mutterings is the perfect place to put the random assortment of what-nots I’ve got up to in Azeroth each week.

It’s really been a week of alts this week. I finished off my Demon Hunter campaign, which was really awesome and gave me the achievement for finishing 5 order halls.

February was DH month, and March is turning out to be Shaman month. She’s halfway through 108 atm so she should hopefully hit 110 by the end of the weekend. I really wasn’t enjoying enhancement so I went and collected her other 2 artifacts for Restoration and Elemental. Running around questing as Ele is a lot more fun at the moment, though I miss my ghost wolves that Enhancement could summon to help attack.

The Shaman order hall is quite pretty and not quite as much of a maze as I thought at the start.

I’ve found a couple of Shaman only quests out in the world now. I don’t remember seeing Druid only quests on Z so I wonder if I just did them without realising or if class quests are  a Shaman only thing.

In an absolute coincidence I got to go see Thunderaan the Windlord two times this week, which was pretty cool as I’d never actually seen him before. Twice had been working on the Thunderfury legendary quest line on his Demon Hunter and he needed an alchemist to transmute arcanite bars. I took my hunter down to Gadgetzan to learn the recipe to make them then I went over to Silithus to see him summon Thunderaan and get his Thunderfury and ach.

Yes, I completely cut the head off the Windlord in this photo.

Then, my Shaman campaign started talking about needing Thunderaan’s help with the burning legion and sent me to track him down after some evil mortal had defeated him.. So I trotted off to the Vortex Pinnacle and up he popped. This time I got his head in the photo.  Lucky he didn’t seem to recognise my alt’s hand in his downfall the previous day and there were no hard feelings.

I seem to have hit the end of the campaign quests now until I reach 110. I always expect there to be a quest continuance at 108 but so far there hasn’t been on any alt.

I looked at my collections tab and realised I’m 10 away from 250 mounts and 10 away from collecting 300 toys. Since toys are way easier to collect than mounts I decided to make that a bit of a focus and go find the easier to collect toys I didn’t have.  I had enough pet tokens in various alt’s bags to combine for Z to go get Narcissa’s Mirror which lets you turn a companion pet into a mini you.

I actually think it’s a little creepy in a cute sort of way to have a mini me following me around. I’m not actually sure how much I’ll use this toy. I ended the week at 296 toys so I’ll have to do a bit more searching to find another 4 easier ones to get. Easier as in, probably profession based toys compared to having to kill a rare over and over hoping it’ll drop a toy. I was pretty lucky that the archeology quest this week also gave a toy as the reward as I haven’t done it before.

I finally gathered up enough AP so that Z’s resto weapon is all maxed out until 7.2 so there’s no mad rush to have to gather AP. Now I need to decide which of the 3 weapons to put any collected AP into. I’m thinking I’ll probably dump it all into the boomy one until it hits 54 as well.

And that was pretty much my week in WoW.

Z and Cinder’s Blog Challenge: Show off your alts..all your alts

Cinder and I have opened up our shared blog topic challenge for everyone to join in on. The more the merrier! Each Friday  we post a new topic that’s open for a week for everyone to write about. Cinder and I will link all posts for this topic on our shared blog website here.

I have a lot of alts, I tend to make them for a ton of different reasons; a server name catches my eye and I want to put a toon on it, or if  I have friends on a different server and I want to go join them for a bit or I’m just feeling bored and I want to go see levelling zones for a bit  I’ve capped out my main account a couple of times and had to delete alts to make room for more.

A lot of my alts never make it out of their low teens and they’re the ones I delete to make room for more, but there’s some that have been floating around for ages. Occasionally I get the idea that I should eventually level all the toons that exist on my account but it’s taking me so long just to get 12 to max level that I really don’t think that will ever happen.

This was fun going back through all my alts and having a look at them and remembering why I made them all.  Actually cataloguing my alts took me a bit to think about how to group then up, should it be by class or race, level or realm or by the amount of time I actually spend on them. In the end  I decided to group them by class and mostly if they were over level 20, I had way to many alts under level 10 to write about them all. I also noticed that I’m not super original in naming my alts, and there’s a lot of Zeirah’s sprinkled around.

Obviously this is my favourite class and the one I have the most alts of.

Zeirah the night elf was made when I changed my main Druid to Horde, so I could still play with my friends. She’s currently sitting at 102 stranded out somewhere in the middle of Stormheim.

Illari was made to see what the Worgan starting area was like and also to see if I would like to be a Worgan because I love the idea that I could run around in human form when not in combat. I found pretty quickly I don’t like the Worgan form even if I could get to be a human in the down time.

Zeirah, the Tauren druid was made just so I could have a Zeirah druid in Navi’s guild on Saurfang, she’s been sitting at 23 for a very long time now.

Bahuma, is only lvl 3 but she has so much sentimental value that I don’t think she’ll ever get deleted. A friend and I made Taurens so we could run down to Silithus for the Qiraji Guardling when it first came out. We put our Taurens on the Venture Co realm as it wasn’t cross realm at the time (maybe it still isn’t) so we hoped there would be a better chance of finding pets. It was such a fun afternoon running(pre-chauffered mount) baby toons across the zones, dodging mobs where we could and corpse dragging where we couldn’t.

Canji was my first hunter and I’m pretty sure she started life as a human. Now she’s night elf and she’s sitting back at 91, still in the Shrine in MoP.

Serentha‘s lvl 44. Made on Emerald Dream so I could go play on a RP server for a while. I didn’t actually end up getting into RP though. She’s standing in Dalaran because the last time I logged into her was to go see a transmog fashion show up there.

Zeirah was made on Archimonde server simply to level up for a pet that was obtainable through a guild achievement and there was a guild accepting people to join just for the pet. I can’t remember what pet it was, but it took her to level 33 to get the rep and the gold to buy the  pet and I haven’t been back.

Falu was my first priest and the very first alt I made. She got me hooked on the healing role. She started out as Draenei but I really don’t like how they look in dresses and priests have the nicest dresses so she became night elf pretty quickly.

Talarial was made so I had a priest when I went horde. She would be my most played alt next to Z. She actually levelled via RAF with Amarlia my Paladin and then I transferred Amarlia to my main account so I didn’t actually have to level another Paladin.

Trisella was to be my explorer toon, I had plans for this tiny gnome to wander the world on her bear, levelling by exploring rather than questing. She got to level 33, made it to the pet trainer in Booty Bay and stayed there. I log in to her occasionally to use the pet battle to level a pet from 1 to 7 in one fight. I made her on Aerie Peak and had her in one of the Convert to Raid guilds until she got kicked out for inactivity.

Hmm, I can’t believe I only have 1 mage. I guess that shows how reluctant I really am to level a mage again.

Jazria was my first (and only) mage and I really did love her to pieces until I discovered healing. She’s sitting at 101 over on Saurfang in Frostwolves with Navi. I find mages so squishy. I levelled her through MoP incredibly slowly and she hung around in WoD doing a quest here and there until my friend BT was levelling a tank and I went and tagged along with him. I’m not sure I would have got her to 100 any other way. I’m trying to decide if I level her in Legion as frost for survivability with her water bodyguard or fire because it looks like it would be awesome to play.

Demon Hunter

I made 2 Demon Hunters just so I could see the Demon Hunter story line from each faction.

Zidari just got to level 110 and is Havoc and is super fun to play. I don’t think I’ll really do much with her but I’m thinking she should make a great exploring toon as she can double jump into places my other toons can’t.

Elearia is my Alliance DH and I haven’t been back to her since getting her into Stormwind City. I made her go Vengeance just to be the complete opposite of Zidari.

I have made so many rogues and deleted them. I just couldn’t get into the class at all for a long while. My first rogue is Aerell and I know she started life as a human. I levelled her to 32 but she’s been in Stormwind as a guild banker alt for so long now though. She does have the prettiest dress in the game which I spent ages camping the vendor for as it’s also a really rare spawn.

Zeirah is 46 and sits in front of the pet trainer in Spires of Arak and has levelled up quite a lot just from pet battles in heirlooms. I think I took her down there in her low 20s mainly as an experiment to see if I could get a tiny alt into WoD. I brought her in through the Timeless Isle underwater cave portal which comes out in Gorgond and then she ran down to Spires. That was a fun adventure.

Keladora made it to lvl 100 with the help of a boost from 60 to 100 because I had a free boost and didn’t want to actually play her for another 40 levels. I’m not really looking forward to levelling her for another 10 levels mainly because I find her so squishy and I have no idea what skills I should be using on her.

Totzie‘s sitting at 104 and is pretty close in the line up of alts to level next. She started out as a Draenei to Goblin when she followed Z to horde.  She’s enhancement at the moment but I’m not enjoying it, so I’ll probably spec her back to Ele to level and then Resto at end level.

Zehra, who’s my only other Shaman was made just because I had an urge for an orc Shaman after running around in WoD for ages. That urge fizzled pretty quickly and she made it to all of level 9 but she looks amazing and every now and again I have an urge to turn Totzie into an Orc.

Merrah’s actually a really recent toon and  I think she might have been my fastest levelled toon from 1 to 100. Once I started playing her she seemed so strong and could survive anything so levelling was amazing as I could pull everything and live. Once I specced her Prot, she just got even better. She’s over on Aman’thul in my friend BT’s guild and occasionally I consider bringing her to Barth with my main toons but I’ve never got around to it. She’s tanked mythic dgns in WoD while seriously undergeared because I have awesome guildies that let me drag my tank along just because I was having so much fun on her and didn’t want to play a different class. She’s 101 now and has her artifact so she’ll be in the line up to be levelled soon enough.

Henrii is my only boy toon and for that reason I don’t want to delete him. He’s all of level 12 and not likely to get much higher. He’s been hanging out in Orgrimmar  for a few years now.

Paladin is one of the classes I would really love to love, they look awesome and they can use a sword/shield which give great transmog options and pally healers are usually amazing healers, but I just can’t get into the class at all.

Amarlia was my first pally and she was levelled as part of recruit a friend with Talarial, so maybe that’s part of the problem, she just levelled too fast to understand it. She’s currently 101 and I think I’ll level I’ll her as tank as I haven’t tried that spec yet.

Ivari was made to try to level a Paladin from scratch but she got dragged over to Winterspring to sit in front the pet trainer for a while then moved to Orgrimmar. I must have had plans for her but I feel bad now because I have no idea what they were.

Arzira started life as Gnome Warlock because I thought it would be so cute to have this tiny pink haired shortie commanding huge demons but then I started to be really unhappy with her as a Gnome because warlocks have the best robes of all the classes and you can’t even see them properly on a Gnome. When Z went horde, Arz went too and turned into a blood elf and now has the best wardrobe ever.

Eselina  is another alt that seems to have spent most of her life sitting in front of a pet trainer. I did make her because I wanted to play an undead toon, because I don’t have a single undead and I thought it would really suit a warlock. And I had the plan that I would level her the old-fashioned way with no heirlooms but when I moved Ivari away from the pet trainer, I needed someone to take her place and Ese seemed like the right choice.

Death Knight

DK would have to be one of my favourite alt classes. I’m utterly in love with how survivable blood DK’s are. All my DKs are main spec blood, even though I don’t really use them for tanking anything other than dgns.

Eleara is my main DK, she was the 3rd toon to get to 110 and she did most of her class campaign through being a tank, though there were a few dgns I chickened out of and went frost so I didn’t look like a real noob.

Bellmara was actually my first DK I levelled but when I went horde I left her behind and instead of faction changing her like most of my alts, I decided to level a new one. She’s currently sitting at the pet trainer outside Karazhan.

Zhii‘s my highest monk and has been on a whirlwind adventure of faction changing. I made her horde to join my Barth toons, then when Blizz offered free faction changes on Barth to try to even up the realm I swapped her to Alli, and then did nothing because as Alli on Barth your survival chances are rather low. I brought her back to Horde a few weeks ago to start to level her. She’s 98 with her Brewmaster weapon and I’ll probably take her back to WoD for the last 2 levels to make getting to 100 a little faster.

Jazria‘s level 54 and on Earthen Ring because I had an urge to make a toon on yet another RP realm (still haven’t rp’d with real people ) so she’s been hanging around wherever I last left her.

Zalai was one of those 3am ideas when I was on skype with a friend and we came up with a great toon name that we thought would suit a panda, so he made a panda warrior tank and I made a panda healing monk and they both got to 76 solely through dgn spamming together. Around the 70s the dgn experience isn’t enough to quickly level without seriously spamming the same dgns over and over so we slowed down on levelling them. And then Legion went live, so she may not get higher than 76 because I won’t play her without BT playing his warrior and we’re both busy elsewhere.

And that’s the round up of my alts!

How’s your alts going?

Finding all my alts for the Love Dgn

It’s so good that the level to queue for the Love is in the air festival dungeon has been dropped to 16. It’s opened up a whole new set of toons for me to take through for more chances at the super rare Rocket mount.

I’m rather impatient though so I’ve decided to keep it to mostly tanks/heals for the fast queues, though tonight I was super lucky and one of the people I met through doing the EN raids with the Saurfang guild was bored and on a tank toon so came along with me for a few dgns.. super appreciated. Hopefully I can return the favour and queue some of his alts.

So I started going through the realms I have toons on and holy crap I have a lot of alts. All in various different stages of of levelling. Maybe finishing some of them off should be a priority of mine. I worked out I have:

Healers Tanks
Illari 20 Druid Eleara 110 Dk
Zeirah 23 Druid Livanthia 62 DK
Ivari 43 Paladin Meerah 100 Warrior
Zeirah 102 Druid Bellmara 83 DK
Falu 92 Priest Zhii 98 Monk
Zeera 110 Druid
Talarial 110 Priest
Trisella 33 Priest
Zalai 75 Monk

What’s not on the list is all the realms that have just dps toons, apparently I have a fondness for hunters because I have about 4 of them, all under 60 dotted around US realms.

I was considering getting my 100+ toons their healing or tanking weapons and that would open up a couple more but to be honest 14 toons is probably overkill as it is ;p

The next two weeks will be alt fortnight it appears.

Demon Hunter month

I decided that since I have 8 toons left to level and there are 10 months left in the year, I’d pick one a month and level it up. So I should get all 12 to 110 by the end of the year (if I don’t get sidetracked).  I planned on leveling my Shaman for the first one as she was my highest at 104 and I really want to try restoration shaman healing but as I was looking at the loading screen I had a sudden urge to level my Demon Hunter instead.

I love my Demon Hunter’s model with her tattoos and horns but I wish there were more glaives in the game for transmogging. Glaives look awesome on her back and  I don’t think I’ll transmog into any other weapon type.

And how awesome are those wings! They’re a bit tattered but I absolutely adore getting to glide around the place.  I may have spent a long time jumping off Dal simply to glide down to the Island.

I had levelled her to 100 and got her into Dalaran really early into Legion but had left her there for the past 5 months without looking at her again. So when I logged onto her, I had to choose a weapon, I had been planning on picking the tank weapon but then changed my mind (I’m sensing a trend here) and went with the dps one. The weapon questline was pretty fun but I didn’t really pay that much attention to it because I spent most of it trying to remember what buttons to hit. I basically just had to go kill a big demon who had taken the glavies I was supposed to have, which I eventually did without too many deaths, a lot less than my mage if I’m honest.

I loved getting my class hall opened because it’s a spaceship.. which makes me the captain! I love the fantasy of having my very own spaceship.

The planets are simply gorgeous!dh-order-hall-2

One thing I really liked about opening up the Order hall was it didn’t go on as much as the other halls about how I’m the best of the best of Demon Hunters and was a lot more team focused.

Once I got the ship running, it was levelling time. I decided to start in Highmountain because that’s my favourite zone scenery wise but my least favourite navigational zone and I wanted to see if being able to glide about would make the zone more fun, and it was!. No more having to navigate my way down mountains or hope that displacer beast doesn’t fail me, I can just glide off. And the amount of time you cut off when gliding off Thunder Totem towards your next quest location is awesome. After being on her a bit, I found she’s really surivivable, I spawn these little health orbs around the place when mobs die which tend to keep me pretty high health, and she has stuns and interrupts and if all else fails, I fel rush away and throw my glaives at the mobs. I think she’ll probably turn out to be fun to level up. I know I’m enjoying her heaps at the moment.

I downloaded the conslegion levelling addon to see if it made levelling faster and it did seem to make Highmountain go quite quickly. It has one really handy feature that it puts a big box on my screen and tells me briefly what I should be doing in the area i.e. “Kill Hawks, Collect Rabbits”, really good for someone like me who tends to forget what the quest is the second I close the quest window. It also auto accepts and auto hands in quests which saves so much time. I just have to keep remembering to turn that off when I go collect a class order hall mission so I actually know what’s going on.

I was planning on going to Stormheim once I finished Highmountain but when I popped back to my ship to grab the next quest zone, I got a quest to go collect 100 demon blood so I decided to combine that with choosing Azsuna as my next location as it’s full of demons.  I also picked up herbalism and mining on her, she may as well help supply my other professions with mats as she levels.

She’s up to 104 now so she’s caught up to my Shaman in levels and now I don’t feel too bad that I changed my order around. This month will be Demon Hunter levelling month. Let’s see if I have a 110 Demon Hunter by end of Feb.

Return of the Defias Set – 7.1

Twice mentioned that 7.1 brought an Outlaw Rouge specific quest to the Deadmines. The reward is a transmog set  of Blackened Defias Armor, which looks like the removed Defias Leather set that used to drop from there.  I was really interested in getting the transmog so we headed down to the Deadmines straight away. As part of the requirements to get the quest to show, you have to be a level  30 (or above) Outlaw Rogue and you need a Green Wing Macaw summoned with you.

We worked our way (without killing anything other than the bosses we needed to get the doors opened) through the dgn down to just opposite the ship at the end where there is a ghostly parrot.

defias-set-with-petOnce in front of the Parrot, an extra action button popped up. If you’re not an Outlaw Rogue or don’t have the pet out, the extra action button doesn’t show up.

Once I used the button to grapple up to a small cave above, Captain Bramblebeard gave me a quest to go collect 100 bandanas from mobs in the deadmines (the reason we didn’t kill any on the way through).

Once you collect all the bandanas, the quest reward is a 5 piece transmog set.

The set doesn’t include the helm but I think the Bladefang Hood (from a baleful token from Tanaan Jungle) suits it really well.

Now my rogue looks simply awesome for when she finally gets out and about to level up to 110.

First raid as a Hunter!

The guild alt raid went ahead and I went along on my hunter which was awesome. We had a mix of alts and a couple of people brought their mains for the run and we pulled in a few extra people.  It was a normal run so it wasn’t too difficult, though we had a few wipes at the start getting everyone coordinated. The funny thing was we have too many healers in our main raid but we had to pull in healers from the group finder as none of us rolled a healing alt. I had to keep restraining myself from trying to coordinate the healers as I’m so used to doing that in our main raids. Elandrix normally heals with me on a Holy Priest but came along on a ret pally.

We were really lucky that all the people who joined were pretty friendly and most of them stayed around for the whole time. A couple put Klor on bnet so hopefully they’ll come back next week and I found another druid to talk healing to. They normally raid as feral in their guild so might come back and resto with us as they were a pretty good healer.

We cleared 7/7N and my hunter got a couple of upgrades which were really welcome. I’m not sure if we’re planning on taking our alts through heroics but given we cleared the normal raid pretty easily it’s something we can probably look at.

Being on a hunter was incredibly fun and I probably enjoyed it just as much as healing which is pretty huge as normally I don’t like dpsing. I think I offended Klor by raving about how much easier that raid was as a dps over a healer, because he then spent a lot of time afterwards trying to justify to me about all the things he does in raids that proves he has a very busy and important role. He was tanking on his DH in our al raid which went really well.

I’m not sure if the hunter love will wear off, but for the moment it’s going really strong.

A kill is a kill

Even if it’s the messiest kill I’ve seen in a really long time, we finished off Xavius last night with 2 people standing, giving us ahead of the curve (and leaving heaps of room for improvement for future kills!) and making us a 7/7H raid team.

We also had 20 in the raid for most of the night, with one of our main tanks getting home late and logging on just in time for the Xavius kill which was great timing. I’m so hoping that 20 turn up on Sunday for mythics seeing we’ll have a full night to play around with.

I really wanted to go onto have a look at mythic Nyth as we killed Xavius with 1/2 hour remaining but not enough people were interested. Klor and Twice logically pointed out to me that we would only have enough time for 1 or 2 pulls when we got through the trash and it was a good point to leave it on as everyone was on a great morale high. Their sensible words didn’t stop me from feeling sulky inside though for a bit. I really want to go and have a look at the mythic fights!

So instead we used the extra half hour to go run some mythic dungeons and I took my hunter along as Elan came to heal.

I am absolutely loving being on a hunter! I’ve been reading the forums and there’s a lot of complaints about MM hunter at the moment, mostly from people who played one previous expansions but for me, I find it really enjoyable coming in fresh from not being on a hunter alt for a few expansions so I don’t have any expectations of what it should be like.

Playing MM there’s definitely a set rotation, though that changes depending on a priority systems based around procs. For someone who mainly heals, where all actions I take are reactive, knowing what I should be casting is really relaxing and even if my priorities in spells change, it still changes to a situation where you’re doing either x or y.

I’m so looking forward to a couple of days just dedicating myself to playing around on her, once I get Z’s world quests for AP out of the way, all the huntering time is mine! Hopefully the alt raid will happen on Saturday.

Huntering About

Let’s be honest here  I don’t play flavour of the month toons, I play flavour of the moment. So basically that translates to I fall in love with whatever toon I’m levelling as I remember all the cool things they can do. Hey, I’m huntering.. omg I have a pet (ignoring Lone Wolf for a moment) and I shoot arrows!, ooh I forgot about how cool priests look with their pretty sparkly spells.. Omg Shamans.. look at the patterns I can make with chain heal… that’s typically how it goes with me. So settling to just one toon to alt about on is almost impossible.

But I really need to settle down and choose an alt because I’d really like to play in the alt raid my guild is still making noises about, and given there’s a ton of people with multiple 110s now, it’s probably going to be a thing and quite frankly I can’t imagine a better way to spend my Saturday nights than with a bunch of guildies :).. soo decisions need to be made.

My first thought and one I know I’ve mentioned before is, I was going to be a holy priest because 1. healing.. 2. blood elf.. 3 cloth dresses… oh god even writing that is making me want to be one.. hmm maybe this post will be re-written in a few months with “oh I’m a priest” title.

But I think I’d really like a role change away from healing for my alt and I’ve been playing on my hunter a lot lately and I really enjoy the class and the fact that the lore for my spec of choice centres all around Alleria Windrunner is just icing on the cake so to speak.

So I decided to start focusing as a main alt on my hunter.. and this happened..

She went from Orc to Blood Elf!!

I really like blood elves so I decided if I was going to be spending a lot of time on her, I may as well race change her.

So huntering.. the good

  • Pets!! yes, yes I know Lone Wolf is the best dps talent at the moment and she’ll have to go without a pet in dgns or raids but she can have one for the rest of the time.
  • Races –  I love Blood Elves, they are so pretty.
  • I might actually be able take time to look around a dgn/raid. I am really shocked by how little I see the fine details in a dgn until I’ve run it tons of times when I’m on a healer. When I’m healing most of my attention goes to the green health bars of my healing addons and what’s immediately under my feet.  Running dgns with my hunter and having her rotation buttons memorised means I actually can look around.

The bad

  • Really limited self-heals – I’m so used to playing hybrid classes that have access to heals pretty much whenever they want so if I screw up and take too much damage, I can usually fix it myself. My poor hunter doesn’t have that ability, I can see lots of running around at half or less health, or remembering to actually carry food or bandages..
  • I have to face the boss.. at all times. Healing, I generally have myself turned to whatever direction the majority of players are in, I want to see if they’re standing in stuff, or pulling other mobs or generally doing their own thing so I can react to their actions rather than just looking at the boss. Dpsing I need to make sure I’m always facing the mobs I want to be attacking.. it’s a whole different mindset.
  • Dgn queues.. yeah I think we all know how crap these are compared to a healer queue.. maybe I better make better friends with my guild tanks or you know, learn patience!
